Before you begin…… • Be sure to sign in and specify which form of technology available you will be using • There should be no drinks or food items around any piece of equipment • Remember to use common sense and take care of the technology resources that are available, or they will be taken away
While using the computer and internet remember…… • Be sure you are only doing the assigned work and nothing else • Be considerate of others and use only the time you have been assigned • Use proper citation to avoid plagiarism. Plagiarism is wrong and the assignment will receive a zero • BE SMART
What not to do while using the computer and internet • Do not surf the internet or view any sites not related to the assignment • Do not check personal email • Do not use any instant messengers • Do not visit any chat rooms • Do not give out personal information • Do not plagiarize
Other Guidelines for computer use • Only use printer with permission from teacher • Do not download any pictures, files, etc. with out permission from teacher • Use proper judgment when evaluating internet resources. Be sure the source is reliable
Other forms of technology available • Microscopes • Dissecting scope • Be sure to clean after use • place back in closet after use • Compound Light microscope • Handle with extreme care • Clean after use These are expensive pieces of equipment and will be removed if improper use is observed
Other forms of technology available • Scales • Triple Beam Balance • Be sure it is set back to zero after use • Handle with care, using both hands to move • Electronic scale • Only to be used at the lab station • Do not attempt to move scale • Thermometers • Handle with care. They are made of glass and will break if not used correctly
Before you start…. • Review all school and class rules about proper technology use • Sign Technology Use Agreement • Have parent/guardian sign consent form • Remember, technology is a privilege and can be taken away
