What is U.S. Current Investment in Wind Power? • The US is still new to wind power idea. Although they have made progress in it, they haven't fully devoted to the idea. • The US in 2009 put in 10,000 megawatts worth of wind power, but have yet to use it. • Nearly $2 billion has been invested by American Recovery and Reinvestment Act by President Obama. Most of that $2 billion has gone to foreign makers of wind turbines. • $45 billion has been the investment since the 1980’s.
What are the Latest Scientific Advancements on Wind Power? • In 2008 the advancements in wind power were due to taller towers and large rotors, advanced project siting and technological advancements that are not specified.
How and where is the US generating wind power? • Thousands of homeowners across the country are using a Bergey wind turbine to drastically cut their electric bills. • At the end of 2010, the installed capacity of wind power in the United States was just over 40,000 megawatts (MW),making it second in the world behind China. Wind power accounts for about 3% of the electricity generated in the United States.
