  1. Bellwork • This goes in the Tuesday column of your bellwork sheet (gray box by door). • See me if you were absent yesterday. • Bellwork: • In your own words, define the following key terms. These are found in expository/informational writing: • Topic - • Major Idea - • Minor Idea -

  2. Up next… • Each person will INDIVIDUALLY read 2-3 poems. Then, you will SHARE the following: • the theme – provide textual evidence. • what this poem tells you about Ha (character development). • This will be used in the foldables

  3. Ha’s Character • Develop 5 words or phrases that you would use to describe Ha as her character traits. • Provide two examples of each directly from the poems (this means you will need the poems). • Prepare to make a foldable: • 3 sheets of colored/construction paper • Color pencils, crayons, OR markers.

  4. The foldable • Stack 3 sheets of paper (8 ½” x 11”) together, placing each consecutive sheet around ¾ of an inch higher than the sheet in front of it. • Bring the bottom of both sheets upwards and align the edges so that all of the layers or tabs are the same distance apart. When all of the tabs are equal distance apart, fold the papers and crease well. • Staple the top crease. Make sure all the papers are stapled.

  5. The top tab will say: “Ha is…” Each subsequent tab will have a word or phrase used to describe Ha.

  6. What goes on each page? • A word/phrase/trait used to describe Ha – on the tab. • A quote or example from YOUR POEMS – under the trait. • This means that details from previous poems don’tcount UNLESS they reappear in the poems you read individually. • WRITE IN PENCIL FIRST AND EDIT. I WILL TAKE OFF POINTS FOR CARELESS MISTAKES.
