4. Standards for ESDS Provide quality, timely, and easily accessible navigation products to our customers In general, it takes about 4 months from the time a channel is surveyed, to the time the customer receives a hardcopy of the mapping. With the implementation of this Web Site and some other Branch initiatives, our goal is to cut that time by 50%.
Currently we have reduced the time to a little over 3 months

5. Standards for ESDS Must be easily expandable to provide for future customer needs
Improve our current business process of producing condition mapping and controlling depth reports
Must be cost effective Once the website is operational and a level of confidence is established, other types of data associated with our navigation projects will be added to the site.
The website has been designed to aid in organizing our in-house navigation products, managing customer information, and provide feedback from customers through email and questionnaires.
We spend a minimum of $60k annually to produce and provide hardcopy navigation products to our customers. Providing electronic information in lieu of hardcopies will mean the customer receives products easier and faster, and also provides a 50% cost savings. It is expected this transformation will be completed by August 2006.Once the website is operational and a level of confidence is established, other types of data associated with our navigation projects will be added to the site.

6. Website Functionality When you first enter the site, without registering or logging in, you can immediately view, print, or download Norfolk District mapping and reports. This was a design standard, and is the primary function of this site. EXPLAIN HOW THE SURVEY INFORMATION IS DISPLAYED.
FOR QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS ONLY
Instead of using a PDF Viewer to view mappings, we have chosen to use a DWF( Design Web Format) Viewer which is a free AutoCAD product.
From the customers perspective, the free viewer can be used to view, download, or print scaleable mappings. DWF files are much smaller in storage size than PDF files, and the viewed and printed product is more crisp or sharp than a PDF file.
For our perspective, using this product is easier, faster, and less expensive than using PDF software (writer is free).
