  4. Spam & Pop-ups • Do not follow links from pop-up windows • Check emails before opening to verify that they are from the right person. • Following links from pop-ups and spam can lead to viruses and spyware

  5. Wireless Security • Change the factory password on your wireless router • Set it to only allow specific computers to join your network • Do not assume that a wireless hot spot is secure

  6. Online Shopping • Always read the refund policy and delivery date • Know exactly what your buying • Pay by credit or charge card • Keep a paper trail and “check out” the retailer before purchase

  7. Anti-Spyware and Anti-virus • Use anti-virus software with anti-spyware to protect your computer • Always keep your anti-spyware and anti-virus up-to-date • Scan your computer regularly for optimum protection • Make sure your firewall is on and set up properly
