  2. Formal Report Guidelines • Title page • Name, date, section, TA’s name, partners’ name (their section and TA’s name if different) etc • Introduction • What is water hardness and why it is important • Different water hardness analysis methods: AA, TDS and ETDA • Description of your project and hypothesis • Procedure • Refer to Chemtrek book • Brief summary of experimental steps: AA, TDS, EDTA and water softening

  3. Results • Show all group’s data: cite your partners’ data properly • Mostly graphs and tables • AA data: calibration data and graph, converting your absorbance to ion ppm, and converting ion ppm to CaCO3ppm • EDTA data: concentration calculation, converting to different hardness value • Water softening results • Sample calculation for each different calculation

  4. Discussion • Compare AA and EDTA results • Compare different water softening methods • Evaluate your hypothesis and explain differences • Conclusion • Summary of your discussion • References • Cite your lab partners, Chemtrek, and one general chemistry book • 6 additional outside references (commercial website not count, wikipedia no more than once

  5. Misc • Typed • Double spaced • Page numbered • Stapled • 5-10 pages long
