Toddler beds • Make sure it is a sturdy bed, and it is low to the ground. • Make sure you buy a bed that has rails already on it. • Has to be certified. • Put the bed in a corner, so that there are two sides of the bed where your child can’t roll out. • If the bed is wood, check the joints, or if it is not wood check the screws to make sure they aren’t loose. • Have the bed away from windows, blinds, and heating units. • Move furniture like bedside tables and lamps away from the bed.
What to dress them in • If your child has long hair put it in a ponytail. • They can wear one piece footy pajamas in the winter And cold nights. • On hot summer nights they can wear shorts and a Tank top or nothing at all besides their diaper.
Playpen • They are not meant to be slept in unsupervised. • While you are using it, make sure the sides are locked in place. • Don’t add blankets, pillows, or extra mattresses. • Make sure the mattress is fuuuuuurhm. • Watch the baby in the playpen at all times. • Do not add stuffed animals, your baby could use them to climb out. • Make sure the playpen is far from stairs, doors, furniture and appliances. • Never put a playpen near the window because they could grab the blinds and crack their necks.
Tips for safe sleep • Safest spot for infant to sleep is alone in a crib. • Don’t put infants to sleep on; water/standard beds, air mattress, futons etc. • Always put baby on their back to help prevent SIDS. • A smoke free environment is always helpful. • For the first 6 months put the crib in your room. • Do not share the bed with you child.
