Itinerary • Students will put their luggage in computer lab 126 upon arrival at school. Please have student’s name and chaperone’s name on luggage tag. • At 1:50 pm, students and chaperones will meet in the cafeteria.
Chartered Bus Guidelines • Students will sit on the bus with assigned chaperone and roommates. Once a student chooses a seat, that will be his seat for the duration of the trip. • If rule is not followed- Student will be removed from chaperone group and placed with a teacher’s group.
Chartered Bus Guidelines (cont.) • iPOD’s , MP3 players, etc., can be used only with earphones. When an adult is addressing the passengers, earphones must be removed, and all students will be expected to listen. • If rule is not followed- Student will not be allowed to use electronic device for the remainder of the trip. • Chaperones will not be responsible for students’ electronic devices. • If iPOD’s, MP3 players, etc., are damaged, lost or stolen, the school assumes no responsibility.
Chartered Bus Guidelines (cont.) • At each stop, passengers will be allowed off of the bus once all trash is picked up. Each person is responsible for picking up trash around his seat. • If rule is not followed- Passengers will not be allowed off of the bus.
Hotel Guidelines • Students will be assigned a room. No adult other than a teacher or student is allowed to change the room assignment. • If rule is not followed- Student will not be allowed to participate in an overnight field trip with Holly Shelter. • Students are to be respectful of the room. Chaperones will complete a room inspection Thursday and Friday morning. • If the room is disorderly- Students will not be allowed to leave until the room is cleaned. • A patrol officer will be stationed at the end of the hall to provide security.
Hotel Guidelines (cont.) • Upon arrival to the hotel, students must be in their assigned room and will not be allowed to visit others’ rooms. • Curfew- Students are strongly encouraged to be in bed by 10:00 pm each night. In the morning, students must wait for chaperone to pick them up for breakfast. • If rule is not followed- Student will not be allowed to participate in an overnight field trip with Holly Shelter.
Tour Guidelines • Daily school rules are in effect at all times. • Students will be assigned to one chaperone who will be responsible for all students in that group for the entire trip. • Instructions of chaperones must be obeyed without question by all students. • If instructions are not followed- Student will be removed from group and placed with a teacher. The student will receive infractions upon return to Holly Shelter. The student will not be allowed to participate in an overnight field trip with Holly Shelter.
Tour Guidelines (cont.) • Severe cases, as determined by the trip leader, will necessitate the immediate removal of student from this field trip. Parents will be responsible for the cost of the return transportation home.
Common Core Assignment • Students will be expected to complete an assignment during the trip. The grade earned on the assignment will be used according to your teachers’ decision. • If assignment is not completed- The grade will be reflected according to your teachers’ decision. • Chaperones will assist their group in completing the assignment.
Clothing • Students will follow New Hanover County School Dress Code Policy: • The shoulder width of shirts or blouses must completely cover undergarments. No spaghetti strap tops, tube tops, or tank tops are allowed; • Net shirts, bare midriffs, or other revealing attire are not acceptable; • Short dresses, short skirts, or short shorts will not be allowed; • No underwear shall be revealed; • Headgear, hats, or sunglasses are not to be worn in the building except for medical and/or safety reasons; • No clothing, jewelry or buttons with letters, initials, symbols, or wording that is obscene,offensive, inflammatory, or detrimental to the instructional process are allowed; • No gang-related clothing, accessories or symbols as identified by local law enforcement agencies will be allowed; • No clothing, jewelry, book bags or other items may be worn which are associated with intimidation, violence or violent groups, and about which students have been notified.
Clothing (cont.) • Suggestions for clothing: • Dress in layers (outdoors temperature may be cold but indoors temperature may be warm). • Wear comfortable shoes (many miles will be covered on foot on both days). • All belongings need to fit in one suitcase/bookbag.
Medications and Special Considerations • All medications must have a doctor’s or parent’s note if not already in nurse’s office (even Tylenol, etc.) • The teachers should be aware of any medical conditions (should have been noted on permission form). It is the parent’s discretion if he would like the information revealed to the chaperone.
Additional Information • Spending money $50.00—$75.00 • (All meals are included in the cost of the trip. Spending money will only be needed for souvenirs, extra snacks, etc).
