The Star Reporter • The Star Reporter is a framework to implement a rigorous curriculum at the students’ individual levels. • It addresses and teaches the essence of the standards. • It provides students with world knowledge and literacy based activities. • It is a cumulative assessment is seen in the creation of a monthly newspaper that shows the students’ work. • It provides teachers with accountability to the students, parents, and district.

  6. What we see as Pros! • Promotes us to teach!!! • Accountability for teachers • Automatic communication and socialization skills with same age peers • Teaching based on standards • Provides an engaging focus experiential learning

  7. More pros! • Easy connections to IEPs • Parents can be ensured that their child is engaged based on the monthly newspaper • Creates connections to the mainstream expectations • Adaptable to students at ALL levels • Fosters creativity with both students and staff
