    14. Progress so far in Implementation of FSS Act

    15. Chairperson, Member Secretary (CEO) and Members of the Authority notified Transfer of staff from other Ministries Structure of the Authority finalized. Some critical studies on Diet Surveys, Quality Upgradation of Food Testing Laboratories, Data-base for Food Safety Regulations, Import regulation regime etc. are being undertaken. 16 States have already notified Commissioners of Food Safety.

    16. Scientific Committee and eight Scientific Panels has been constituted. Some of the panels have already started working on priority agendas. Central Advisory Committee has been notified. Draft Licensing & Registration procedures, Recall procedures prepared Transition from PFA to FSSA has been discussed at various consultation workshops and likely to effected from January, 2010.

    18. Specify standards and guidelines in relation to food items, limits for food additives, labelling & quality control Rules & regulation for enforcement activities & analysis of food; Enforcement Model for States Appointment of Commissioner of Food Safety and other officers by all States Designate and finalize upgradation plans for Referral labs and food laboratory infrastructure Safety standards for potable water/bottled water Safety standards for alcohol

Safety Standards in Milk Standards for Meat Industry Trans Fats and Saturated Fats Standards Regulations for Organic foods, Functional foods, Novel Foods, GM foods Develop procedures for establishment and working of Adjudicating officers and Tribunals Food Safety Surveillance Mechanism and Rapid Alert System Traceability Mechanisms Imported Food Safety Action Plan

Procedure for Food Safety Risk Analysis Food Safety Systems and Accreditation procedure Accreditation of auditing system for compliance of Food Safety System Standards of Service Delivery Consumer Advocacy, Food Advertisement code Harmonization of standards with other Food Regulators and Codex Consumer awareness for food safety, disaster management and information dissemination systems Annual Survey of diets and contamination level
