Send/Sent • Send is the root form of the verb. • Send is the present plural of the verb. • Sent is the past participle of the verb. • In passive voice. • In perfect tense. • Sent is the past tense of the verb. • In simple past tense. Wrong: E-mail sent. (An e-mail cannot be sent by itself) Right: E-mail is/was/will be sent.

3. I, Me and Myself • I is a subject • I write an e-mail • Me is object • He writes to me • Myself is reflexive pronoun • I will write it myself Wrong: Send an email to Rose and I. Wrong: Send an email to Rose and myself. Right: Send an email to Rose and me.

4. A/An • It’s all about sound. • Pronounce the word. • Find the sound. • Use A before consonant sound. • Use An before vowel sound. Wrong: An European. Right: A European. Wrong: A year. Right: An year.

5. Its/It’s • Its is a possessive adjective. • It just shows possessive cases such as his, her, etc. • Its color, • First of its breed. • It’s is the abbreviation of It is. • It is a book. • It’s a book.

6. Don’t/Doesn’t • Don’t is simple present plural • Doesn’t is simple present singular Wrong: They doesn’t know. Right: They don’t know. Wrong: He don’t know. Right: He doesn’t know.

7. Good/Well • Good is an adjective. • Well is an adverb. Wrong: I’m doing good. Right: I’m doing well.

8. Everyone/ Everybody/ Everything • Every shows all of a countable group. • Although it sounds like plural, it is singular. Wrong: Every members. Right: Every member.

9. Datas/Informations??? • Data itself is plural. • Singular form of data is datum. • Information is an uncountable noun. • There is no plural form for information.

10. Self/Selves • Self is singular • Selves is plural Wrong: Themself, ourself. Right: Themselves, Ourselves.

11. Advice/Advise • Advice is noun • Advise is verb Wrong: Please advice me. Right: Please advise me. Wrong: advices Right: advice

12. Loose/Lose • Both sound same by pronunciation. /lu:s/ • Lose : fail to keep/win/maintain • Loose: not dense or not tight etc Wrong: Did you loose your money? Right: Did you lose your money?

13. One of my… • Use plural of the noun. • Use singular of the verb. Wrong: One of my friend… Right: One of my friends… Wrong: One of my friends are… Right: One of my friends is…

14. Use of Comma (,) • Use them at the completion of one meaningful verse. Wrong: He plays cricket but, he does not play football. Right: He plays cricket, but he does not play football.

15. ‘ and ‘s • To show possessive case ‘s can be used. e.g. Rohan’s car • When the noun ends up with the alphabet ‘s’, don’t use ‘s along. • Instead use just apostrophe. e.g. Riyas’ car.

16. Easy to remember ‘receive’ • Does ‘e’ follow ‘i’ or ‘i’ follows ‘e’? • Forget about ‘i’ • Simple way : c is between e and e. It’s Ece

17. Don’ts • Don’t wash your dress. You can wash your dress clothes/clothes. • Don’t put on/ put off lights. You can turn on/ turn off the lights. • Don’t use invaluable and priceless with worthless things. • Don’t say I and you. Say You and I. • Don’t use a.m./p.m. with 24 hours clock. • There is no 24.00 hrs. After 23.59, it is 00.00 hrs. • Don’t say ‘He take cares of insurance.’ Because, he takes care of insurance. • It’s not his off day. It’s his day off.

18. Exercise • I (send/sent) the email last week. • Keep a copy of the email to Ajmal and (I/me/myself). • (A/An) union govt. must delegate everyone’s interest. • (Its/It’s) a flower.
