Designed for unemployed professionals, JumpStart NYC is a proven three-month free educational program, which enables talent in transition to apply their skills and experience to small businesses and new industries, while exploring opportunities in New York’s start-up economy. As one of Mayor Bloomberg’s initiatives to boost economic development, this innovative program has been replicated successfully numerous times since its 2009 inception. The next module takes place this May at The Levin Institute – be part of it! JumpStart NYCoffers an excellent opportunity to explore New York City’s entrepreneurial world, retool your skills, demonstrate your talents, expand your network and open your mind to new possibilities. The program includes: An intensive boot camp May 2 – May 9, 2011, (no Saturday or Sunday) to re-orient participants to succeed in small businesses and new-tech environments. Taught by world-class faculty, you will learn about New York’s entrepreneurial economy through presentations, simulations and dialogue. A 10-week action-learning project in a small business. Mentoring, coaching, and networking. Wrap-up session to facilitate a smooth transition and identify your next steps. Select curriculum topics include: Innovation and transformation of NYC industries: trends and opportunities. The Venture Capitalist world: financing and growing small NYC based businesses. Bridging the knowing/doing gap: getting it done in times of uncertainty and disruption. Developing the Consultant Mindset. To qualify for this program, you must be a New York City resident with at least 3 years of full-time work experience, and who is currently unemployed and has earned a minimum of a 4-year college degree.
