Plagarism • Give credit where credit is due • Put quotes around direct quotations • Every paraphrase should give credit • Examples: • Model a study after another • Rationale for current study from another • (including personal communications)
Publication Credit • “Authorship is reserved for persons who receive primary credit and hold primary responsibility for a published work.” • Should order authorship by significance of contribution. • Authors assume all responsibility for their work.
Duplicate Publication • “An author must not submit to an APA journal a manuscript describing work that has been published in whole or in substantial part elsewhere.” • “The same manuscript must not be submitted to more than one publisher at the same time.” • No “piece-meal” publication.
Data Verification • Keep raw data for a minimum of 5 years after publication. • Keep other materials, apparatus, etc. for same period.
Professional Reviewers • May not circulate or quote from or cite a work that is currently under review without first obtaining permission.
Research Participants • You are required to report on your participants and must abide by all ethical guidelines that apply to the use of human and/or animal subjects.
