Mission Statement • The purpose of the evaluation process is to design and to promote the professional growth and development of teachers through annual goal setting, objective feedback regarding their accomplishments and performance, and reflection about their teaching practices. The students of the district deserve the best possible total educational program that qualified professional teachers and administrators can offer.

  4. Teacher Evaluation Process

  5. Pre-observation • To provide a framework for observation • To orient the supervisor to the class, the objective, the plan for the lesson • To specify the classroom practices to be observed

  6. Observation • To collect non-judgmental objective data for an accurate account of what is seen and heard • Use the Effective Instruction Worksheet • 25 – 75 minutes • Formulate reflective questions

  7. Post-observation conference • Share non-judgmental objective data with highly qualified teacher (HQT) • Assist the teacher in self evaluating • Assist the HQT in creating suggestions and alternatives for growth and change • Positive aspects of the lesson • 20 – 40 minutes

  8. Formal Evaluation • Summary of formal observation • Observation comments: • Review of personal teaching goals • Overall job performance: includes personal teaching characteristics and information not shared in observation.
