Conventions of comedy • Comedy films are usually exadurated situations to make them humour. When you see a comedy you can expect to see how characters are living their frustrations of life. They often have happy endings, and you expect to feel good after watching.
Typical Narratives • The genre usually follows someones day to day life who is experiencing a hard time which can be funny for the audience. • It also commonly follows a family and sometimes how they experience their holliday.
Sub Genres • Black comedy • dark comedy • Slapstick comedy • Childrens comedy
Hybrids • Rom com • Comedy drama • Action comedy
Successful financially • Comedy is difficult genre to produce because If is is funny it can do very well financially, however, it could also be not funny and would not make any money. • Often, comedy films are most successful when they are children comedy films as kids tend to find things much funnier. If they are cartoon characters especially because kids would laugh at the appearance without really understanding the jokes in the film.
