  2. Hebrews 1:1 • God spoke in Many Ways • . . . but now . . . • Think of the implications • of that!

  3. Hebrews 1:5 • Psalm 2:7 & 2 Samuel 7:14 • - Jesus has a unique relationship with the Father • - This was coronation language • - The Son is the co-regent of the World

  4. Hebrews 1:6 • Psalm 97:7 • - Every Creature Must Worship Jesus • - God will not share his glory with another • (Isaiah 42:8; 48:11)

  5. Hebrews 1:7 • Psalm 104:4 • - As powerful as angels are, they are mere servants

  6. Hebrews 1:8-9 • Psalm 45:6-7 • - Jesus is the fulfillment of the Davidic promise of a king that would rule forever • - The Father calls him “God”

  7. Hebrews 1:10-12 • Psalm 102:25-27 • - Everything else in creation is created • . . . but not the Son . . . • He is Eternal

  8. Hebrews 1:13-14 • Psalm 110:1 • - The Son is ruling (even when it doesn’t seem like it) • - There would be a time when the Son ruled but his enemies were still scurrying around • - Angels are ministering; The Son is Ruling

  9. Sustains All Things by His Word A Name Superior to the Angels Appointed Heir of All Things The Agent of Creation Purification for Sins Radiance of God’s Glory Seated at the Right Hand of God The Exact Impression of God

  10. Heir of All Things • Everything belongs to the Son • - We are just stewards of everything • . . . our time • . . . our resources • . . . our desires

  11. The Agent of All Creation • He Made Everything • - The Creator Has Certain Rights • . . .to determine the purpose of the creation • . . . to assign identity and worth (to label)

  12. Radiance of God’s Glory • Jesus is the Fullest Expression of God—The pinnacle • - We can learn exactly what God wants by looking at Jesus • . . . to save us • . . . to serve us so that we can serve others and him • . . . to love us

  13. Exact Representation • Jesus Reveals What God is Like • - We don’t have to wonder who God is or what he wants • . . . he died to have a reconciled relationship with us • . . . who else would do that? • . . . who else has done that for you?

  14. Heir of All Things • Everything belongs to the Son • - We are just stewards of everything • . . . our time • . . . our resources • . . . our desires

  15. Sustains All Things • With Just His Word!

  16. Sustains All Things • Do you go to His Word as though it sustains every aspect of your life? • Is it really the “decider” in everything you do?

  17. Purification for Sin • We are super grateful when someone does some small nice thing for us • How much gratitude does Jesus deserve? • - Does your commitment to him reflect the proper level of gratitude for redeeming you?

  18. Seated at the Right Hand of the Father • His Work is Done • - Victory is His! • . . . and ours • Would you switch from the winning team to the losing team . . . • . . .after the game!

  19. Name Greater Than the Angels • Your Name was EVERYTHING in the ancient world • - It stood for everything about you • To have the greatest name • means you have ALL AUTHORITY

  20. One Final Question • Who has ALL AUTHORITY in your* life? • *but really His
