Country Name International Conference on Women in Physics –Poster Presentations Recommendation for Actions • Translation of resources/posters to local languages • resources identified • contact source of material for permission • translate material and share • Encourage links between individuals/societies for exchange of resources (local, national and international) • WG5 to investigate the possibility of creating a repository of resources in collaboration with the Education Commission International Conference on Women in Physics –Summary and Resolutions Thursday 20 July 2017

  7. Workshop: Gender Studies and Intersectionality International Conference on Women in Physics –Summary and Resolutions Thursday 20 July 2017

  8. Country Name International Conference on Women in Physics –Poster Presentations Session 1 Summary Talk on gender studies and intersectionality by Eden Hennessey. Individual activity: Creating personal intersectionality maps Discussion in small groups about the most/least important social identities and the most positive/challenging social identities Group discussion and report on most relevant identities in our workplace/culture International Conference on Women in Physics –Summary and Resolutions Thursday 20 July 2017

  9. Country Name International Conference on Women in Physics –Poster Presentations Session 2 Summary Small group discussion and report on three differences and three similarities between intersectionalities map Small group discussion and report about which boxes in your maps give you privilege. Are there any boxes you forgot to include/take for granted? Discussion of which identities could be both a privilege and a challenge Presentation by Prajval Shastri about caste system in India as an example of the impact of intersectionality in our profession International Conference on Women in Physics –Summary and Resolutions Thursday 20 July 2017

  10. Country Name International Conference on Women in Physics –Poster Presentations Session 3 Summary Discussion: Why should we care about intersectionality? Discussion: What if gender is the most important aspect? Does more for one group mean less for another? Discussion of IUPAP resolutions and recommendations for WG5 and Team Leaders. International Conference on Women in Physics –Summary and Resolutions Thursday 20 July 2017

  11. Country Name International Conference on Women in Physics –Poster Presentations Recommendation for Resolutions for IUPAP Require that IUPAP-funded conferences include a session on diversity and inclusion in the physics profession. Organizers are encouraged to include expertise from the social sciences for these sessions, and in particular, consider intersectionality issues. International Conference on Women in Physics –Summary and Resolutions Thursday 20 July 2017

  12. Country Name International Conference on Women in Physics –Poster Presentations Recommendation for Actions For Working Group: 1. The planned global survey should include intersectionality. 2. The ICWIP conferences should include social scientists both as plenary speakers, and workshop organizers. 3. Country teams that want to include a social scientist should be allowed to have one extra space in their team above the normal limit. 4. The name of ICWIP should be revisited to discuss including the word Gender. For Team Leaders: 1. In the meetings/workshops that are locally organized on gender in physics, organizers are encouraged to include expertise from the social sciences for these events, and in particular, consider intersectionality issues. 2. Reports of these events back to the IUPAP WG5 are encouraged. International Conference on Women in Physics –Summary and Resolutions Thursday 20 July 2017
