Program Planning for 12th Grade Counselors will meet with all students to review & confirm selections, check credits, answer questions. Verification report listing requested courses will be available on the Portal on March 13th. Deadline for changes is March 17th. Changes to selections after that date will only be made for prerequisite issues. Schedules will be available on Portal the week before school opens in August.
Standardized Tests SAT – spring of junior year and/or fall of senior year. ACT – spring of junior year and/or fall of senior year. SAT Subject Tests – following related coursework. AP Exams – first 2 weeks of May.

Counselor Letter of Recommendation • Request made as part of the Transcript Request Form. • “Request for Counselor Recommendation” survey on Naviance – will be available in spring. • Complete Activity Sheet or Resume in Naviance. • Add potential major if known under “Game Plan”. • Sent with transcript and standardized scores. • Allow 15 school days when requesting recommendation.
Wrapping up Junior Year Develop a Personal Statement for your applications. Develop/update your Resume in Navianceand indicate what your potentialmajor might be under “game plan”. Review application essay from Career Plan 11. From your research, develop a list of 7-10 schools and do extensive research. Trim the list of 10 colleges to 3-7 by September of senior year…be sure to consider varying degrees of competitiveness. Consider and contact teachers for letters of recommendation!!! Complete “Counselor Recommendation Request” form on Naviance. (Only some schools require a letter from counselors.)

Senior Year… Complete applications starting in September. Keep track of deadlines. Maintain a rigorous academic schedule and consistent grades. Stay focused on long-term goals. Begin the financial aid process.
