This document provides structure for BFD MIB with session and performance tables for efficient BFD session management. Includes scalar variables for status tracking and session mapping. Supports notifications for session state transitions. Next steps involve aligning with base BFD draft and updating based on WG feedback.

History of Changes • Submitted individual submission based on draft-katz-ward-bfd-01.txt. • Revised submission based on draft-katz-ward-bfd-02.txt • Published revised submission as a WG document
BFD MIB Structure • General Variables • The General Variables are used to identify parameters that are global to the BFD process. • Session Table • The session table is used to identify a BFD session between a pair of nodes. • Session Performance Table • The session performance table is used for collecting BFD performance counts on a per session basis. • Session Mapping Table • Session Mapping Table maps the complex indexing of the BFD sessions to the flat “BFD Index” used in the BFD Session Table
BFD Scalar Variables • BFD Admin Status object • BFD Operational Status object • BFD Version Number object
BFD Session Table Entry • Describes BFD session configuration for entire box • Includes applications using BFD (I.e.: MPLS) • Provides a simple, flat indexing that can be reverse indexed using mapping table.
Session Performance Table • Per Session • Packet In Count • Packet Out Count • Number of times session flapped • Session down time • Diag code for last session down event • Other Misc. session stats
Session Mapping Table • Session Mapping Index, providing mapping between indexes and the BfdSessTable. • Supports indexing using • bfdSessApplicationId • bfdSessDiscriminator • bfdSessAddrType • bfdSessAddr.
Notifications • Ability to enable/ disable Session Notifications • Notifications for “up” and “down” state transition
Next Steps… • Revise MIB to make it consistent with draft-ietf-bfd-base-00.txt. • Evaluate impact of other WG documents and update MIB accordingly. • Will request for WG last call on next revised version (published after this meeting). • Need early MIB doctor review. • Working towards WG Goal • Submit BFD MIB to the IESG to be considered as Proposed Standard by November 2004.
