  1. Question 6. Close up Viewing subjects close up has provided inspiration for many artists, designers and craftspeople. The Boyle Family are known for their close-up studies of surfaces. Photographer Andreas Feininger studied the structure of natural objects. Craftsperson Heather Knight makes ceramic artwork inspired by the textures of natural forms, and Georgia O’Keeffe painted close-up images of flora.

The Boyle Family • The Boyle Family are a family of collaborative artists based in London • Their aim continues to be to try & make art that does not exclude anything as a potential subject. • Over the years, some of the subjects being: earth, air, fire and water; animals, vegetables and minerals; insects, reptiles and water creatures; human beings and societies. • The media they have worked in have included: performances and events, films and projections, sound recordings, photography, electron-microphotography, drawing, assemblage, painting, sculpture and installation. • www.boylefamily.co.uk

Heather Knight • She produces porcelain wall hangings, bowls, and vases that are three-dimensional takes on fungi, sea creatures, seedpods, fruit skin, and more. • Nature inspires her, but what makes Knight’s work so captivating is how she isolates textures and plays with scale, giving her creations a sometimes-shocking, always-intriguing microscopic look. • The dishes and tiles are mostly all white, though some of the bowls are glazed pale blue, yellow, or green on the inside. Georgia O’Keefe’s • Georgia O’Keefe’s work is unique because the viewpoint she chooses is a close up one as though seen through a magnifying glass or zoom lens of a camera. • Flowers seen from this perspective often take on the appearance of other things and are not always recognisable at first glance • www.georgiaokeefe.com

  11. What is Pinterest? Pinterest is a virtual pinboard. Pinterest allows you to organize and share all the beautiful things you find on the web. You can browse pinboards created by other people to discover new things and get inspiration from people who share your interests. People use pinboards to plan their weddings, decorate their homes, and share their favorite recipes. What is a pin? A pin is an image added to Pinterest. A pin can be a dded from a website using the Pin It button, or you can upload images from your computer. Each pin added using the Pin It button links back to the site it came from.

  12. How do I install the "Pin It" button? We have instructions and a video tutorial to install the "Pin It" button on our Goodies page. What is a board? A board is a set of pins. A board can be created on any topic, such as Cool Posters, Recipes For Dinner, or Wishlist. You can add as many pins to a board as you want.
