  5. APPLICATIONS OF ATMOSPHERIC PLASMA PROCESSING Surface modification of almost all materials before: Bonding Gluing Printing Coating Cleaning The highly reactive stream of chemical species generated in the plasma increases surface energy resulting in stronger bonds.

  6. How does this work? Increase in surface energy promotes better wettability. The water drop tests demonstrates this effect. No treatment After plasma Low Surface Energy = poor adhesion The water drop glides on the surface. High Surface Energy = strong adhesion The water drops sticks on the surface.
