Applied knowledge test • 3 hour 200 item multiple choice test • Computer terminals at 147 Pearson Vue Professional testing centres. • Clinical Medicine-80%, Critical Appraisal & Evidence based Clinical Practice-10% and Health Informatics and Administration issues-10% • Three times a year • Contact Pearson Vue to book date and centre • 2 forms of Identification • Feedback • ST3 GP Trainee

  5. Clinical Skills Assessment • Feb, May and October. Initially in Croydon, later in a purpose built centre in London • Consulting room • 13 ten minute appointments • Primary care management, Problem solving skills, Person centred approach, comprehensive approach, Attitudinal aspects and clinical practical skills

  6. WBPA and eportfolio • Opportunity for assessment in real situations • Professional development, Probity and Team working • Based on approach of Foundation programme • Feedback on areas of strength and needs, Identify trainees in difficulty, Drive learning in important areas of competency and determine fitness to progress to next stage

Collecting Evidence • Case-based Discussion (CBD)6 in ST1, 6 in ST2 and 12 in ST3 • Consultation Observation (COT) in primary careor Mini-CEX in secondary care6 in ST1, 6 in ST2 and 12 in ST3 • Direct Observation of Procedural Skills (DOPS)Until mandatory section of log complete • Evidence recorded through direct observation of the trainee by the trainer in primary care and Clinical Supervisors’ Reports (CSR) when in secondary care. • Multi-Source Feedback (MSF)Two cycles in both ST1 (clinicians only) and ST3 (clinicians and non-clinicians),with the option of repeating in ST2 if unsatisfactory in ST1   • Patient Satisfaction Questionnaire (PSQ)One cycle in ST1 or ST2, when in primary care, and one in ST3

Required Evidence • Specialty Training Year 1 • Prior to 6 month (6m) review • • 3 x COT or mini-CEX• 3 x CBD• 1 x MSF, 5 clinicians only• DOPS, if in secondary care• Clinical supervisors’ reports, if in secondary care • Prior to 12 m review • • 3 x COT or mini-CEX• 3 x CBD• 1 x MSF, 5 clinicians only• 1 x PSQ, if in primary care• DOPS, if in secondary care• Clinical supervisors’ reports, if in secondary care
