  2. Opening Day Checklist • Welcome • 3 words that best describe you- Grab a notebook. On the front page write down three words that describe you. With the partner I assign share. Then share with others or the class as a whole • Organize materials- in lockers and desks

  3. Classroom Rules • Donot speak while the teacher is speaking • Keep hands, feet, and objects to yourself • Do your own work! • Treat students, staff, yourself and others with RESPECT!

  4. Mr. Beck’s Top Ten 10. Make your OWN decisions and be who YOU want to be, not the person others may want you to be!

  5. Mr. Beck’s Top Ten 9. Cheer for the RIDERS!

  6. Mr. Beck’s Top Ten 8. Have FUN... Work HARD!

  7. Mr. Beck’s Top Ten 7. After getting an assignment done, work on something quietly. (Examples include completing other homework, reading, writing, drawing, listening to music, twiddling thumbs, figuring out your goals against average, thinking about your favourite movie, wondering if Mr. Beck ever had hair, thinking about your future wife/husband, etc, etc, etc)

  8. Mr. Beck’s Top Ten 6. Don’t be afraid to try something new!

  9. Mr. Beck’s Top Ten 5. When you are writing be like Winnie the Pooh; Think, Think, Think.

  10. Mr. Beck’s Top Ten 4. Every time you read you are learning something.

  11. Mr. Beck’s Top Ten 3. Any reference to the Montreal Canadiens as the best hockey team in the NHL will only help your grade.

Expectations- Co-create criteria • Place desks so there is a big middle opening in the middle of the room. • Grab 5 slips of paper • In your opinion what are some of the expectations of students in Grade 7? • Take 2 or 3 (or 4 or 5) slips of prepare and on each write one expectation that a Grade 7 student would be expected to follow. • Lay these all in the opening area and follow the directions provided • THIS WILL FORM THE EXPECTATIONS FOR THIS CLASS.
