News Updates • nMRCGP Results • 2 CSA failures who will need extensions to training • 1 AKT failure passed on resit • No WPBA failures • E-portfolio outcomes awaited (June 11th and 12th)
E-portfolio Outcomes(ARCP Panels) • Outcome 1 – satisfactory progress • Outcome 2 – trainee needs to acquire specific competencies without additional training • Outcome 3 – remedial training required • Outcome 4 – trainee released from training • Outcome 5 – incomplete evidence presented • Outcome 6 – training evidence complete, all competencies acquired • Outcome 7 – Out of Programme Training
Changes from Aug 2008 • ST2 entry into General Practice • Induction Day Wednesday August 6th • Team Building Day • Use of e-portfolios by trainees
Educational Supervision from August 2008 • Trainers with ST2s will be their ES for both their GP attachment AND their ST2 hospital post • This will be remunerated as 6 months of trainers grant + 6 months at 1/8th of a trainers grant

Conference News • CSA Results Wales • 114 ST3 ( 5 LTFTT) • 66 CSA +AKT passes • 75 CSA passes • 10 CSA failures in April, some more than once • 20 CSA failures before April 2008 • Reviews and Appeals • Office Review £60 where marking can be reviewed (recount) • Can appeal against result, £800, refunded if successful. Can appeal against a breach of regulations, procedures, an issue of prejudice or bias • CANNOT appeal decision of assessors. • Appeals panel has 3 members, 2 assessors and another expert assessor from a different college • Can have a hearing in which case the applicant can be accompanied.
Half Day Release • ST2 and ST3 need to be separated
Selection 2008 • 136 ST1, 9 ST2 • 105 UK graduates, 79 of whom were Welsh graduates • 300 trainee recruits to other specialties, of which 17% were UK graduates • Complaints but no appeals (yet) • House of Lords ruling – HSMPs still eligible to apply alongside UK and EU countries • BMA taking Deaneries in England to tribunal alleging breech of commitment to fair training wrt recruitment
