  1. ULTRASTRUCTURE OF INTERPHASE NUCLEOUS • Dr. Rathod L. R. • Assistance Professor • Department of Botany • Mahatma Phule Arts, Science & Commerce College Panvel • Unversity of Mumbai • 24/09/2012

  2. Interphase Nucleus The nucleus is found in all the eukaryotic cell of plant and animals, mature sieve tubes of plant and mammalian erythrocytes. The nucleus was first discovered by Robert Brown in 1831 in flowering plants . The nucleus is more or less spherical lying in a cytoplasm . Nucleus is the most important part of the cell. It controls all the cellular activities. So it is referred to as the controlling centre of the cell

  3. Structure of nucleus The interphasic nucleus shows following structures Nuclear membrane (Karyotheca) Nuclear sap (Karyolymph) Nucleolus Chromatin reticulum

  4. NUCLEUS : ELECTRON MICROSCOPE

  5. Ultra structure of nucleus

  6. Eukaryotic cell nucleus

  7. Prokaryotic cell nucleus

  8. Chemical nature of Interphase Nucleus Nucleus is composed of RNA, DNA, Proteins and Enzymes. The RNA is similar to rRNA . The enzymes include acidephosphatase, nucleoside phosporylase, RNA methylase.

  9. Function of Nucleus Metabolism Heredity Differentiation RNA synthesis Exchange of material Support Genetic code

  10. Function of Nucleus Metabolism - nucleus control majority of the activities of cells. It is a regulatory organelle in cell metabolism. Heredity -nucleus contain DNA molecule in its chromosomes, it play significant role in heredity. Differentiation – it control cell differentiation during the embryonic development. The presence of nuclear enzymes such as DNA polymerase, DNA synthetaseetc. RNA synthesis – The synthesis of ribosomal RNA takes place in the nucleus.

  11. Function of Nucleus Exchange of material – nuclear membrane is concerned with the exchange of material between the cytoplasm and nucleoplasm. Support - nuclear membrane provides a surface for the attachment of structural elements of the cytoplasm such as microtubule and microfilaments. Genetic code – Nucleus contains the master plan for protein synthesis.

  12. Thanking You
