  2. What is a first birth ? • Thousands of children are born into this world every day. • When a baby is born,celebrations take place. • This is called the first birth.

  3. What is a new birth ? • The new birth gives us a new life and makes us becomes members of the family of God. • This new birth means “being born again” (John 3:3

  4. Steps to the New Birth John 3:1-17; 1 John 1:7-9 1: Realize that you are a sinner. (Romans 3:23) 2: Confess. (1 John 1:9-11) 3: Repent (Acts 17:30) 4: Ask for forgiveness (Hebrews 9:22) 5: Ask Jesus to come in your heart and stay as Lord. (Rev. 3:20)

  5. Step 1: Realize that you are a sinner. • From the time Adam and Eve disobeyed God, all children born into this world are born as sinners. • You must accept you are bad and only Jesus can save you.

  6. Step 2: Confess • Tell Jesus all the bad things you have done sincerely from your heart. • Only God can forgive and save you from your sins (1 John 1:9)

  7. Step 3: Repent • Turn away from all the bad things you have been doing. • Tell Jesus that you will not do bad things again (I Corinthians 7:10).

  8. Step 4: Ask for forgiveness Ask for forgiveness and cleansing in the blood of Jesus. It is only the blood of Jesus that can wash away your sins. When you ask for forgiveness, Jesus will forgive and wash you clean.

  9. Step 5: Ask Jesus to come into your heart • Now that you have received Jesus Christ, reject Satan and all his works. • When you take this step, you will become born again, you now have the experience of the new birth.

  10. Fruits of the New LifeColossians 3:12-17; Galatians 5:22,23; I Corinthians 13:13 • A tree is known by its fruit. When a child experiences • When a child experiences the the new birth, there are fruits that must be seen in his life.

  11. Fruits of the New Life • Perfect love for God, His word, friends of Jesus and others. • Merciful and kind. • Humility and meekness. • Grace to forgive those who hurt you. • Peace of God in the heart and making peace among brethren. • Absolute or total faith in God’s word. • Desires and thinks of heavenly things.

  12. Fruits of the New Life • If all these fruits are in your life, then you can say that you have experienced the new birth. • Pray that God will give you the grace to continue till the end.

  13. Questions • What is the new birth? • Who was Jesus speaking to in our Bible passage? • Every child is born a sinner. Yes/No. • Name one sinful child must take to experience the new birth? • Mention five fruits that should be seen in the life of a born-again child.

  14. Memory verse & Lesson MEMORY VERSE: “Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God” (John 3:3). LESSON: Only children who experience the new birth are saved.
