THE PRESENT SIMPLE : HE - SHE - IT 3rd person singular
In general : • The third person singular is formed by adding an s to the base verb. • To work He works
In verbs ending in ss,x,ch,sh,o • “Es” is added in the third person singular. • To dress She dresses • To fix He fixes • To watch She watches T.V. • To wash She washes • To go It goes !
In verbs ending in consonant + y • The y changes to “ies” • To cry He cries.
Negative form • I, you, we, they don’t +base verb • He, she , it doesn’t+base verb • I don’t work. • You don’t work. • He doesn’t work. • She doesn’t work. • It doesn’t work. • We don’t work. • You don’t work. • They don’t work.
