6. Amendment Four • Ratified in 1791 • Search and Seizure • What does this mean???? • Prohibits unreasonable searches and seizures • Must have a search warrant if there is probable cause/evidence of a crime

7. Amendment Five • Ratified in 1791 • Life, Liberty and Property • What does this mean???? • Legal rights for people in criminal proceedings • Right to due process of the law (fair hearing/trial) • Pleading the 5th – no one can be forced to say something that will make him/her look guilty

8. Amendment Six • Ratified in 1791 • Rights of the Accused • What does this mean???? • Must be read their rights (Officers must tell the arrested WHY they are being arrested) • Right to a speedy trial

13. Amendment Thirteen • Ratified in 1865 • Abolition of Slavery • What does this mean???? • Slavery is not allowed in the U.S. or any lands under its control

14. Amendment Fifteen • Ratified in 1870 • Black Suffrage • What does this mean???? • The right to vote cannot be determined because of the RACE OF A MALE
