Amendment Four • Ratified in 1791 • Search and Seizure • What does this mean???? • Prohibits unreasonable searches and seizures • Must have a search warrant if there is probable cause/evidence of a crime
Amendment Five • Ratified in 1791 • Life, Liberty and Property • What does this mean???? • Legal rights for people in criminal proceedings • Right to due process of the law (fair hearing/trial) • Pleading the 5th – no one can be forced to say something that will make him/her look guilty
