The programme in our school: • It is a cross-curricular project: We tried to involve as many Departments as we could. We have obtained more collaboration than we thought. 2.The pupils involved are the youngest in the school: We have started working with 1st ESO (12 years old) this year and they will continue with the project in 2009/10. We wanted them to feel an important part of the school (the Macabich brand)
DEPARTMENT: CATALAN LANGUAGESUBJECT: Catalan TEACHERS INVOLVED: Josep Sendra • Collection of tales where birds are the main characters • Competition of tales with birds as main characters
DEPARTMENT: SPANISH LANGUAGESUBJECT: SpanishTEACHERS INVOLVED: Joan Cardona, Mirva Pons Birds through poetry: Study of poems from different periods where birds are the central topic.
DEPARTMENT: FOREIGN LANGUAGESSUBJECT: EnglishTEACHERS INVOLVED: Joan Ramírez, Raquel Torres They will translate the text written in other subjects, for final works (CD, DVD,...)
DEPARTMENT: TECHNOLOGYSUBJECTS: Technology, Communication ProcessesTEACHERS INVOLVED: Antonio Castro, Lucia Barranco • In 1st ESO there is a group included in the European Section which studies the subject Communication Processes in English. This group will do these activities related to the Comenius programme: - In the unit called Wordpad : Data processing and notebook elaboration with birds as the topic. - In the unit called Paint: Photographs taken to birds in the country side. Further processing of the pictures. • As extra-curricular activities we will organise a photo exhibition about the birds of Ibiza
DEPARTMENT: GEOGRAPHY AND HISTORYSUBJECT: Social SciencesTEACHERS INVOLVED: Mariví Balbastre • In this area, pupils of 1st ESO will work a specific unit through a webquest: Flying across Europe, which will give pupils a real view of the countries involved in the Comenius project and of their main characteristics. It will also allow pupils to study some concepts that they have studied by using ICT. This will be done using birds and migration movements as the common link. • With this proposal we will work some aspects from unit “The Earth and the natural media” and it will allow pupils to reinforce specific competences.
DEPARTMENT: MUSICSUBJECT: MusicTEACHERS INVOLVED: Miquel Mengual, José V. Alonso • Collection of sounds for final DVD • Collection of traditional songs related to birds • Christmas Concert with “birds songs”
DEPARTMENT: ARTS AND CRAFTSSUBJECT: Arts and CraftsTEACHERS INVOLVED: Manuela Bustamante • Bird drawings for final poster, final colouring book and country guide. • All the year round they will elaborate the posters advertising the programme activities • At the end of the year: drawing exhibition of the materials done
DEPARTMENT: MATHEMATHICSSUBJECT: MathematicsTEACHERS INVOLVED: Jesús Lozano, David Cardona In 1rst ESO unit number 8 “Functions and graphs” they will study: • Graph elaboration from a value table Making a wall map is being considered • Graph interpretation The data processing we need to make this unit will come from “Birds ring data” taken each spring and autumn in Ibiza from 2000 to 2007
DEPARTMENT: BIOLOGY AND GEOLOGYSUBJECT: Natural ScienceTEACHERS INVOLVED: Rosa Fuster We will work 1 hour each week studying bird biology, in groups of 12 pupils. From this area we will assume the COORDINATION of the project contents, by organizing different activities like: - The Bird Day, in October - Country bird watching - Video projections - Talks about birds To achieve these aims, special materials have been prepared. We have also asked for collaboration to different organisations, like Conselleria de Medi Ambient and GOB (Grup Ornitològic Balear)
