Slovakia is a small country in the middle of Europe. The capital of Slovakia is Bratislava. Sereď is a small town in the southwest of Slovakia. Expanse of the town is 3044 ha. The population of Sereď is 16 795. The first written mention of the town was in 1313. The mayor of Sereď is Ing. Martin Tomčányi.
Sereď is on lowland ashore the river Váh – the longest river of Slovakia. The altitude of town is from 124 to 130 meters above sea level. In Sereď we have 4 primary schools, one special school, 2 high schools, one Art school and some kindergartens.

Municipal Museum Sereď The Municipal museum in Sereďhas started up from the initiative of citizens of the town. For public it was opened on 15 December 2004. The museum seat in building of Roman Catholic rectory – so it is called Fandly´s rectory. Exposition shows archeological findings from Sereď and its vicinity – from ice age(mammoth teeth, jewellery, rare ceramic statuette of woman from ancient cultures of Mediterranean Sea and Egypt).
In the coat of arms of Sereď is red shield, on the bottom is wall. Over the wall are 3 towers. In the open gate is grille. Over the gate is tower with one window and roof. Over the roof is high tower with two windows. On the sides are two gates with towers. coat of arms
The Church of John the Baptist was built in 1781. It was constructed by Earl Frantisek Esterhazi. It is a Roman Catholic church. At the top are beautiful paiting (pictures) of Bible stories (Magnificat, The Baptism of Jesus, The Last Supper). These pictures were renewed in 1992 by architects. THE CHURCH OF JOHN THE BAPTIST
THE TOWNHALL THE TOWNHALL was built by Tomaschek. Inside is big room for wedding. There are rare pictures, that brought Mikulas Estrerhazy in 1761.
