What is collaborative professional learning? A systematic process in which we work together, interdependently, to analyze and impact professional practice in order to improve our individual and collective results. DuFour, DuFour, & Eaker
What is collaborative professional learning? We believe • Our schools can be more effective learning environments when we commit to learning about and improving upon our teaching practices. • Supporting and helping educators to grow should be a key function of leadership in the schools. • School-wide collaboration focused on teacher learning will have a significant impact on teaching and learning.
Characteristics of a Professional Learning Community • A PLC works together collaboratively to become crystal clear on the knowledge, skills, and dispositions that all students must acquire. • A PLC monitors each student’s learning on a frequent and timely basis. • A PLC creates a systematic process to provide intervention for those students who are experiencing difficulty and enrichment for proficient Students.
Characteristics of PLCs • A PLC is hungry for evidence of students learning, and uses that evidence to inform and improve individuals practice, to indentify and respond to students in need, and to fuel continuous improvement. • The PLC concept is a process rather than a program. The process requires educators to work collaboratively and interdependently as they develop and apply shared knowledge in achieving student success.

Google Calendar • A free time-management web application offered by Google • Events are stored online • Integrated with other Google service such as GMail and iGoogle • Everyone can organize their schedules and share events, meetings and entire calendars with others. You can even publish the school calendar on your website
Google Documents • Upload Microsoft Word, OpenOffice, RTF, HTML or plain text documents, create documents from scratch, and download your online ones. • Edit documents online simultaneously with anyone you choose, and invite others to view them. • Keep track of who made changes to a document and when, and roll back to any version.
Google Presentations • Free web-based solution for creating slide shows • Collaboration and sharing features • Email • Google Talk • Attach files, pictures, etc.
