Institutionalizing Sustainability • It is important to publicly convey the University’s commitment to sustainability and to address the needs and values of both the campus and the community. • “Institutions are… under pressure to manage (their) environment and (their) impacts…”1 • Sustainability is defined by long-range planning.   9. Institutionalizing Sustainability • Universities and Communities are complex institutions with various constituencies. In order to achieve transformative action, efficacy, and sustainability, all stakeholders must be invested, work collaboratively, and integrate their creativity, resources, and vision towards a collective future.

  10. Environmental Resource Center • This still needs to be fleshed out. Similar to the Cross Cultural Center, this will be a physical location dedicated to supporting environmental initiatives projects, students, and student groups on campus by providing a place to coordinate and collaborate. Resources and materials will be available as well as information on upcoming events, programs, internships, and grant applications. This will most likely house the office of the Sustainability Coordinator located in the Student Center.
