  4. Early uses of prints: Playing cards Religious images Books and pamphlets Advertisement (Posters) Just for Art

  5. Types of Prints: Relief Intaglio Lithography Screen printing

  6. Relief: Woodcuts Use negative/positive space Carve away parts you DO NOT want showing Raised surface (not carved) is inked to create a print

  7. Intaglio Scratching into metal plate Ink stays in the scratches, and this part creates image Examples: Engraving, Etching

  8. Lithograph Usually done on stone Draw image with crayon, cover with greasy paint (sticks to crayon) and Print

  9. ScreenPrinting Force ink/paint through a screen onto paper/cloth Use a stencil on screen to create image
