To mute or to lock the screen rotation and prevent the iPad display from switching between portrait and landscape mode.
The Settings • Airplane Mode • Wi-Fi • Notifications • Changing the wallpaper • Picture frame • General – sound and parental controls • iCloud • Mail/Calendar • Safari –clear history and cookies
Basic commands • Home screen- Click the Home button , or pinch four or five finger together • Most recently used apps- Double-click the Home button • Force an app to close • Lock the screen orientation or use the music controls • Scrolling and swiping • Searching the iPad or quick launch
Multitasking gesturesuse your fingers to pinch, swipe, tap, and double-tap • Return to the Home screen: Pinch four or five fingers together • Reveal the multitasking bar: Swipe up with four or five fingers • Switch apps: Swipe left or right with four or five fingers • Turn multitasking gestures on or off: In Settings, go to > General > Multitasking Gestures, then tap On or Off
Customizing the screen • Touch and hold any app on the Home screen until it jiggles • Arrange the apps by dragging them • Click the Home button to save your arrangement. • 6 favorites in the docking station

Printing • AirPrint uses your Wi-Fi network to send print jobs wirelessly to your printer. • iPad and the printer must be on the same Wi-Fi network.
Typing • Double tap the space bar for a period • Turn caps lock on • Hold to reveal extras such as accented letters • Editing text with magnifying glass • Use a split keyboard • Auto-correction and spell checking • To shake for undo and redo
Improving Battery Life • Adjust the brightness (Setting) • Adjust the Auto Lock (Setting) • Turn-off Wi-Fi (Setting) • Turn off location Services (Setting) • Turn-off Bluetooth (Setting) • When battery is almost gone use Airplane Mode • Full charge once a month and then run it down

Facetime • FaceTime lets you make video calls over Wi-Fi. Use the front camera to talk face-to-face, or the back camera to share what you see around you. • To use FaceTime, you need iPad 2 and a Wi-Fi connection to the Internet • Call a contact: Tap Contacts, choose a name, then tap the phone number or email address the person uses for FaceTime.
