IETF Request –Need for AP Functional Definition Motion to form IEEE 802.11 AP Functional Description Study Group approved May04, re-affirmed July04, approved by Excom July04 Study Group recommended formation of an Ad-Hoc committee to develop text to include in the IEEE 802.11 standard, via the existing TGma revision process, rather than formation of a new Task Group APF Ad-Hoc Committee Formed September 2004 Clarify distinction between AP function & AP device, including Enumerating AP abstract functional blocks within an AP device Integration function description, Distribution System and its associated services (portal, ESS, etc.) description, include an example Goal – Text included in March 05 TGma draft.
