IETF Request –Need for AP Functional Definition Motion to form IEEE 802.11 AP Functional Description Study Group approved May04, re-affirmed July04, approved by Excom July04 Study Group recommended formation of an Ad-Hoc committee to develop text to include in the IEEE 802.11 standard, via the existing TGma revision process, rather than formation of a new Task Group APF Ad-Hoc Committee Formed September 2004 Clarify distinction between AP function & AP device, including Enumerating AP abstract functional blocks within an AP device Integration function description, Distribution System and its associated services (portal, ESS, etc.) description, include an example Goal – Text included in March 05 TGma draft. Update: AP Functional Description

Wireless Network Management Study Group Letter Ballot 72 recommends formation of a Task Group; Project Authorization Request (charter) in 04/537r8; Address Station Management and AP MIB enhancements TGT - Wireless Performance Prediction TG Developing a recommended practice TGr – Fast BSS Transition Intra-subnet AP to AP transition Proposals submitted, to be discussed next week.
