Exports of products containing HCFC • Permitted after 1 January, 2004 under Article 5(5) • HCFCs come from within the quota – manufacturer can decide between refrigeration, mobile A/C, solvent, fire fighting and exportuse(if permitted in the country of import)
HCFCs for fire fighting • HCFCs can be used to replace halons listed in Annex VII of Regulation (EC) No 2037/2000 • 70% of the costs of halon removal and destruction must be paid by the HCFC installer • Limited time period – 2010? • Report amounts annually to the Commission • So far only known in Italy and Spain • Not recommended as HCFCs are a short term replacement and they deplete ozone
