Cristina DeLuca Lets users create a new identity “students experience the freedom shift away from their constraining high school identities toward something completely new” (DeLuca) Cristina explains how people can create an identity from just the use of the profile picture Social pictures: pictures that have more than one person in it. Usually at a gathering or at a party which make viewers believe that you are outgoing (Deluca)

Fake Profiles Innocent people are becoming victim of various fake accounts on Facebook and in most cases, photographs of females are either stolen from their original account on Facebook or some other places, and later used the same picture in fake accounts, terming them as prostitutes, hooker etc. In most cases, people concerned are even un-ware of such illegal usage of their photographs (“Thousands”).

High School Fake Profile Case • The section describing “Personal Information” and “About Me” contained the statement “obamas pretty cool…but hes black sooo…” • Defendants described the plaintiff enjoying and/or engaging in sexual acts. • Defendants described the plaintiff as being homosexual and engaging in sexual acts with other males. • Defendants directed disturbing, vulgar and sexual comments to certain girls, which “Given that these girls communicate amongst their friends, the impact on Plaintiff is substantial.” (Namara)

  10. Mediation • Be stricter and clearer on the rules/guidelines on the usage of social networks like Facebook • Online contracts
