AR Reading • REQUIREMENTS: -Accelerated Reader Tests in the library/ classroom - Book every 4 weeks - Comprehension score in grade book * LIBRARY: • - We visit the library every other week. • - The library is also open before and after school as well as at lunchtime • Battle of the Books

Grading for Language Arts &Social Studies Tests 40% Quizzes/projects 30% Classwork 20% *Homework/Reading10% * According to District guidelines, homework is not to exceed 10% of a student’s grade.

Homework • Homework is assigned everyday • Assignments are written in the binder reminder and on Teacher Web • Assignments are generally a review and practice of the day’s lessons • District guidelines are 50-60 minutes* • Use judgment • Quality, not quantity • Homework in Grade book • 0 unless late work is submitted for reduced credit • Students should be reading at least 20 minutes a day
Behavior Expectations • Be prompt, be prepared, and complete ALL assignments ON TIME. • Treat people and their property with respect. • Follow procedures and directions the first time they are given. • Accept the consequences of CHOSEN behaviors. • Do not interfere with others’ learning.
Grade First Aid • Have the original test signed by your parent or guardian. • Submitted within ONE week • DO NOT WRITE YOUR CORRECTIONS ON THE ORIGINAL TEST SHEET! • On another piece of paper, write out each answer you missed. This means writing out the question and the full answer or definition. I will not accept a word or a letter only • Social Studies, write the page number you found the answer on! • Staple your corrections to the original test (CORRECTIONS on top) • Turn into your period basket for grading
Ensure Student Success • Sign up for and monitor ESPRI • Check Teacher Web and/or binders • Sign up for emails via Newsflash • Allow student to be responsible and to accept consequences • Allow him/her to be challenged • Maintain communication between school and home
