COMPARISON BETWEEN ELEVATION AND CURVATURE MAPS USING PENTACAM IN KERATOCONUS PATIENTS Escaf M; Izquierdo Jr L; Mendoza J; Miranda M Instituto de Ojos Oftalmo Salud Lima, Peru THERE IS NO FINANCIAL INTEREST IN THIS POSTER
Objectives • To compare the measurements between dioptrical power maps (curvature) and the anterior and posterior elevation maps in patients with keratoconic eyes on the central corneal and apex.
Materials and Methods • Retrospective study on 50 eyes • Previous diagnosis of keratoconus using Pentacam. • Evaluation of the dioptric power values on the central cornea and apex. • Comparison between these values and the corresponding values for the same points on elevation maps (anterior and posterior). • Statistic evaluation done with SPSS 15
Results EA= anterior central elevation EP= posterior central elevation
Results Relation between Corneal Elevation and Dioptric Values Elevation values Dioptric Value Eac= anterior central elevation Epc= posterior central elevation Eak= anterior elevation in Highest dioptrical point Eak= posterior elevation in highest dioptrical point
Results No significant difference between Eac vs Eak (p=0.500) No significant difference between Epc vs Epk (p=0.851
Results MICRONS ANTERIOR AND POSTERIOR ELEVATION Eac= anterior central elevation Epc= posterior central elevation Eak= anterior elevation in Highest dioptrical point Eak= posterior elevation in highest dioptrical point
Conclusions • We found a significant relation (p:> 0.005) between de increasing dipotrical power and the rise on the elevation maps expressed in microns. • There's a relation in the changes on the anterior and posterior elevation maps in keratoconic eyes. • At the same time we can assure that these maps are another safe tool for an easier diagnosis of keratoconus.
