  6. WHAT is TraceAssured? WHY is it a World First? TraceAssured - an internet based supply chain traceability and data interchange system……………… But much more!

  7. WHERE and HOW did it come about? • It was to satisfy a real industry need • to rapidly and accurately answer food supply chain traceability queries

  8. Belgian Dioxin Crisis Spring 1999 • Belgian food supply chain contaminated • Customers needed assurances • - Primary materials • - Secondary materials • - Complex ingredients • A huge task!

  9. “There had to be a better way” It had to be:- • Simple to set up and use • Accurate and rapid • Granular • Cost effective • Unified (Inter-company) • Secure (commercial confidentiality) • Readily available (internet)

  10. WHY a World First? • These requirements have been achieved …and much more • First system to offer unified supply chain traceability and other information from farm to fork employing a novel patented system • Other potential (mass balances, product carbon footprint)
