  3. George Washington GEORGE WASHINGTON LISTENED TO HIS SECRETARY OF TREASURY. ALEXANDER HAMILTON. HE WANTED A NATIONAL BANK.

  4. George Washington • THOMAS JEFFERSON AND JAMES MADISON BELIEVED THE CONSTITUTION DIDN”T SAY THE NATION COULD HAVE A NATIONAL BANK. • THEY BELIEVED IN A STRICT INTERPRETATION OF THE CONSTITUTION.

  5. George Washington • A strict interpretation is like a tight rope on a horse. IT LIMITS THE HORSE’s movement. • WITH STRICT INTERPRETATION THIS MEANS THE GOVERNMENT IS LIMITED LIKE A HORSE>

  6. GEORGE WASHINGTON • ALEXANDER HAMILTON BELIEVED IN A LOOSE INTERPRETATION. • LIKE A LOOSE ROPE ON A HORSE. • A Loose rope makes the horse strong or the government strong.

  7. George Washington • ALEXANDER HAMILTON BELIEVED THE CONSTITUTION’S ELASTIC CLAUSE/NECESSARY AND PROPER CLAUSE ALSO CALLED IMPLIED POWERS • SAID CREATE WHATEVER YOU NEED TO MAKE SURE OTHER LAWS ARE ARE CARRIED OUT.

  8. GEORGE WASHINGTON • GEORGE FAVORED HAMILTON AND DIDN”T LISTEN TO MADISON AND JEFFERSON.

  9. GEORGE WASHINGTON • WHISKEY REBELLION. • A REBELLION NOT TO PAY TAXES in Western Pennsylvania. • Instead of hauling grain, whiskey was easier to haul than grain and more valuable.

  10. George Washington • Putting the rebellion down showed the national government could control situations. • GW believed two things when he left. • Political parties were a danger to split the country. Country shouldn’t ally with other countries.

  11. George Washington • Jefferson was so mad at George, he quit being his Secretary of State and moved overseas.

  12. John Adams-2nd President • John Adams and Alexander Hamilton formed the Federalists party

  13. John Adams • James Madison and Thomas Jefferson mad and Jefferson comes back. • They form the Democratic-Republican Party

  14. John Adams • John Adams win with 71 Electoral Votes for Prez • Thomas Jefferson has 68 and wins Vice-Prez • First Fed Prez and Vice Pres Democratic Republican

  15. John Adams • GEORGE WASHINGTON WAS RIGHT!. • POLITICAL PARTIES SPLIT THE COUNTRY. IT EVEN SPLIT THE EXECUTIVE DEPARTMENT.

  28. JOHN ADAMS • HERE ARE THE ALIEN AND SEDITION LAWS • 1.Waiting period to become a citizen changed from 5 years to 14 years.2.The president had the power to arrest aliens who were disloyal to Federalist ideas.
