CPD Bands 1 – 4 Report, Key messages • Staff who learn want more! • Staff want accredited, transferable education & training • Lack of clarity around progression opportunities • Need for flexible delivery of education and training www.nesc.nhs.uk
Key messages continued • Dedicated time for learning and release is barrier to education and training • Learning infrastructure often not adequate to support bands 1 – 4 • Manager crucial in development of their staff • Focus on developing whole workforce, not just registered staff www.nesc.nhs.uk
CPD Bands 1 – 4 Workshop • Attended by Clinical Leaders and Heads of Education and Training • Focussed upon implementing the recommendations made within the CPD Report across NHS South Central • Introduce improvements in the continuing personal and professional development of staff in bands 1 – 4 • Develop collaborative action plan www.nesc.nhs.uk
Activity 2 • Develop effective pathways for development and progression, for example, progression from vocational courses to FE & HE and progression for Apprentices into FE & HE and building links with Apprenticeships www.nesc.nhs.uk
Next Steps • Identified three key recommendations to be implemented across NHS South Central • Mapping education and training and identifying gaps – 19 November Workshop • Supporting development of progression pathways • Developing Assistant/Associate Practitioner role, around Next Stage Review pathways. www.nesc.nhs.uk
