2. Creative Crafts is a course designed to satisfy the state requirement for art. Emphasis is placed on the elements and principles of design as seen through various cultures. Students will be exposed to a variety of materials and techniques.

7. Batik Students will be able to demonstrate the techniques of wax resist on fabric (batik) to create a work of art and demonstrate color theory as it applies to the batik process
8. Batik Culture:
The word “batik” is Indonesian in origin and translates to “wax writing”. The batiks from Java, Bali are the most well know. They developed specific motifs and patterns and used color to identify a family or area.
9. Maskmaking
10. Maskmaking Students will identify at least three functions of maskmaking and create a cover for the face using a variety of techniques and materials.

14. Pottery Students will be able to create three handbuilt pieces of pottery using the coil, slab and/or pinch method.
Students will be able to identify the stages of clay; greenware, bisqueware and glaze ware.
15. Pottery Students will be able to glaze their finished pieces using one or more of the following techniques: dipping, inlay, piercing, painting, sgraffito, stamping, and/or combing.

19. Weaving Students will be able to create a weaving on a simple loom.
