Excitement in Chapter 8 • The Tucks explain that they can’t stay longer and must make their way home. • Jesse goofs off and delays the Tucks and Winnie, but Miles shows appreciation that Winnie is going with them. • Winnie feels free and old being with the Tucks. • The man in the yellow suit was following them and he learned the Tucks’ secret. He seemed happy about that.
Chapter 9 is Partying Tonight! • Miles carries Winnie the rest of the way to their house. • The Tucks finally got home. • Winnie sees the Tucks’ lake and shouts “Water!” • Angus meets Winnie and says that he's happy to see someone like her in 87 years.
Have You Heard Chapter 10? • Winnie looks inside the Tucks’ house. • The Tucks make a lot of stuff, for example they make toys, quilts, and model toys, to sell. • When the boys are away, they look for jobs and stick around but they have to visit lots of other places once in a while. • Mae thought the boys were naked from coming in the pond, but Jesse rejects the idea by saying that never in their right mind would they go around naked with Winnie Foster in the house. (right to left) Jessie, Miles, Mae, Angus Tuck.
Chapter 11 is Singing That Song. • Winnie ate supper at the Tucks’ parlor and not in the dining room like Winnie’s family. • Winnie decides to copy the way the Tucks do while eating dinner. • Winnie decides she is homesick. • Tuck and Winnie talk about the man in the yellow suit and then they go out onto the water and decide to talk about something really quick.
What happened In Ch. 12? • Winnie notices that the bugs on the water means feeding time. • Angus tells Winnie that his family is “dropped off”, “left behind”, and “stuck”. • Winnie feels as if Angus hates her because he is trying to make Winnie not drink the spring water. • Miles says that the horse is gone, and that someone stole it.
Chronicles in That Chapter 13. • Mr. Yellow-suit-man took the horse • Mr. Yellow-suit-man arrived at the Foster’s house • Mr. Yellow-suit-man was vain because he liked the way his hair was, but smoothed it out for Winnie’s Grandma. • Mr. Yellow-suit-man told Winnie's grandma where Winnie was.
Chapter 14 Eight O’ Clock News • They went to bed first thing but Angus didn’t like it. • Winnie couldn’t sleep and then she figured that Mr. Yellow-suit-man might have told her parents already. • Winnie believes that the Tucks might be criminals. • Jessie tries to convince Winnie to drink from the spring when she is 17. Then they could get married.
Didn’t You Read Chapter 15? • Mr. Yellow-suit-man tells Winnie’s family the story of how he knows where she is. • Mr. Yellow-suit-man tries to buy the Foster’s wood. • Mr. Yellow suit man lied about the Tucks. • Mr. Yellow suit man bargains a trade and simply lies to the Fosters.
Now Chapter 16 Is a Nuisance • Mr. Yellow suit man decides to look for the Tucks right at morning. • The constable thinks that Mr. Yellow suit man was in cahoots with the kidnappers (Tucks). • The constable is complaining how long it is until the Tucks’ house. • Mr. Yellow suit man rode ahead- I think he will try and get a drink from the spring.
The Mysterious 17 • When Winnie wakes up she goes to help Miles catch fish. • Miles decides to just talk. • Winnie decided to compare Miles with an oar and Jessie with water. • Winnie almost caught a fish • When Miles caught a fish Winnie told him to put it back because she didn’t want it to die.
The Exciting and Wonderful Chapter 18. • They had flapjacks for breakfast- again. • Jesse almost slept through breakfast. • When Mae was talking, they heard a knock and it was Mr. Yellow suit man.
The Really Interesting Ch. 19. • Mr. Yellow suit man entered the house • Mr. Yellow suit man infuriated Jesse. • Mr. Yellow suit man reminds Miles of Anna • The Tucks found out that Mr. Yellow suit man bought the wood in exchange of Winnie.
The Chapter 20 • Mae hits Mr. Yellow suit man with the shotgun. • Winnie tells the constable that she came because she wanted to. • The constable threatens the Tucks with the Gallows • Mae and Winnie go to the new jail house.
Curious About Chapter 21 • Winnie is home. • Winnies grandmother thought that the Elves bewitched her, and that was why she ran away. • Winnie seems disappointed that her parents sold the wood. • The Fosters find out that The man in the yellow suit died.
Into Chapter 22. • Winnie thought it was the hottest day ever. • The Fosters went picking on Winnie again. • Winnie saw the toad again and talked to it. • Winnie wanted to get water for the toad. Her grandmother said not to, and that the toads were icky.
Ch. 23. • Winnie said it was the longest day: mindlessly hot, unspeakably hot, too hot to even move. • The air made Winnie’s breathing difficult. • Winnie was scared to run away. She didn’t know what was going to happen. • Winnie decided that the Tucks needed her and woke up five minutes to midnight.
The Interesting Ch. 24 • Winnie switches place with Mae Tuck. • Winnie says bye to the Tucks • Winnie expected Miles to put the nails back in but he didn’t. • The constable didn’t realize that the switch happened.
Ch. 25 • Winnie was grounded from leaving the yard. • Winnie saw the toad. • Winnie saw a dog • The dog tried to eat the toad so she saved the toad by giving it the spring water
Epilogue • The Tucks come to visit Winnie. • Mae and Angus see that the wood and Winnie’s house was gone. • The Tucks heard about how the wood got destroyed. • Angus saw Winnie’s gravestone, and Mae said that Jesse was going to be sad.
