    4. Where can I live? Free advice on finding accommodation on and off campus is provided through Nottingham Hospitality. University accommodation provides over 6,000 rooms, either owned by the University or provided by external developers, all close to the campuses, purpose built and ranging from modern self-catering flats to traditional halls of residence.

    5. Finance Taking time to improve your employment prospects by studying a university course does come with a financial cost. It is best to be clear from the beginning how much the fees are going to be and what support the University can give you in relation to financial issues. To find information on the cost of each course please follow the links to the right. There are several different ways to pay for the course. For more information on this please click here for the student fees office. Studentships The University of Nottingham has various sources which students can approach to seek help with funding their study. Please follow the various links on the University Sources of Funding page for more information. There are also various sources of support you may be eligible for if you find yourself in difficulty when you have started your course. The School of Education can provide you with information on these should it be necessary.

    7. Resources This is not just about books although the University does have eleven different libraries. The excellent Education collection is housed in the innovative Djanogly Learning Resource Centre on Jubilee Campus. But 'resources’ also includes access to experts, laboratories, other students, and technology. As a student at the School of Education you will have access to: Research-active academics Djanogly Learning Resource Centre Electronic resources through the Information Gateway The Portal for communication and resource sharing School of Education Resources & Computing Centre Virtual learning environment Well-equipped classrooms and science laboratories Participation in general postgraduate research seminars Lectures by visiting academics Information Services

Support for Students The School and the University understands that students may need different types of support throughout their time studying with us: academic; practical; medical and emotional. Each student will have a personal tutor and each course has a course leader to help with academic issues and help point you in the direction of other sources of support if needs be.     9. The Graduate School There are also facilities for MA students in the Graduate School. The Graduate School has social space and networked PCs for use by our students. In addition, there are dedicated meeting rooms and that can be booked by all our students. There is now a new Graduate Centre in the Sir Colin Campbell Building on Jubilee Campus. The Graduate School has a remit to help support the needs of postgraduate taught and research students, providing training events, social events and advice.

    10. Accessibility The University of Nottingham welcomes applications from all students irrespective of age, race and gender. Our aim is to provide a high level of support and guidance from the moment you first enquire to the moment you graduate. The University has created a brief guide to existing facilities and services for students who have a disability which can be accessed here. The Disability Policy Advisory Unit (DPAU) is responsible for promoting access for all students and applicants who have a disability by influencing the development of policy and procedures relating to disability. Academic Support can offer assistance on alternative formats, dyslexia screening and assessment, note taking, reading and library support and one-to-one sessions. The School of Education has additional resources. The School of Education also places an emphasis on making its courses accessible to those who are in full time employment. Many of our courses offer flexible routes with intensive block or twilight sessions making them accessible to the widest range of students.

    12. Student Life There are social and academic events going on all the time at the University and in the area. To give you a brief idea the University has a very active Student Union with clubs and societies, with everything from Art to the Yoga Society. There is the Arts Centre with comedians, activity events, dance and plays. The University has excellent sporting facilities and events are going on around the University to suit all tastes. University Radio Nottingham is an award winning student radio station with interviews, music, news and competitions. The School of Education has events going on throughout the year. These can be based on study skills or seminar series within research centres which will keep you up to date with the Research which your tutors are working on, putting you at the cutting edge of educational research.
