Process • *Zen art stressed the Process- the way things were done • Important in the arts and things like Tea ceremonies and Noh Drama • *Dramas, gardens, and ceremonies were all effected
Tea Ceremonies How to have your own tea ceremony: • *Rinse your hands and mouths with water • Examine the scroll that is present and and clear your mind for the ceremony • The host will enter and serve a light meal and tea
Japanese Gardens • *Buddhism teaches that people are part of nature, so gardens are an important part of art and meditation • Rock Gardens are meant to give people a calm place for meditation. • Rocks symbolize an appreciation for simple nature and natural things. • *Rock Gardens are made of only Rocks and Sand>
Other Arts • Flower Arranging, Incense blending, and painting are other arts influenced by Buddhism. ***They are still popular today***
A new and Different Culture • Merchants now had money and time and created their own entertainment • They had Kabuki Theatre, teahouses, gambling houses, and wrestling • The Upper- classes shunned these as lower-class activities
