  1. Three Dimensional Geometry Capsule -I

  2. Let us consider three mutually perpendicular lines in space passing through a fixed point O. • The Point O is called origin and three lines OX,OY,OZ are termed as X axis, Y axis and Z axis respectively. • The moving arrows shows the +ve direction of these axes and the opposite of it is –ve direction.

  3. The plane containing X and Y axes is called XY Plane.

  4. The plane containing Y and Z axes is called YZ Plane.

  5. The plane containing Z and X axes is called ZX Plane.

  6. All the three planes are extended to infinity and they divide the whole space in 8 parts called octants and denoted by I Octant, II Octant,III Octant and IV Octant above XY-Plane taken anticlockwise as shown in fig. and corresponding below the XY plane taken as V,VI,VII and VIII Octant.

  7. We define, • Distance of point from XY Plane as Z Coordinate. • Distance of point from YZ Plane as X Coordinate. • Distance of point from ZX Plane as Y Coordinate. • That is • Distance parallel to Z axis as Z coordinate • Distance parallel to X axis as X coordinate • Distance parallel to Y axis as Y coordinate

  8. Capsule -1 Of course, we much take coordinates +ve and –ve as per direction of axis.

  9. Coordinates of the point on X-axis at a distance 4 units from origin will be A) 0,0,0 B) 0,0,4 C) 0,4,0 D) 4,0,0 Correct - Click anywhere to continue Incorrect - Click anywhere to continue Your answer: You did not answer this question completely You answered this correctly! The correct answer is: You must answer the question before continuing Submit Clear Submit Clear

  10. Coordinates of a point in space whoe distance from origin is 3 units and lying on X-ais in its -ve direction is A) 3,0,0 B) -3,0,0 C) 0,3,-3 D) 0,-3,3 Correct - Click anywhere to continue Incorrect - Click anywhere to continue Your answer: You did not answer this question completely You answered this correctly! 11. A point is on +ve direction of Y-axis at 7 units from origin. then its coordiantes will be A) 0,0,7 B) 0,0,-7 C) 0,7,0 D) 0,-7,0 Correct - Click anywhere to continue Incorrect - Click anywhere to continue Your answer: You did not answer this question completely You answered this correctly! 12. A point is in XY plane. Its distance measured parallel to X axis is 10 units and that of parallel to Y axis is 20 units. Then its coordinates are A) 10,0,20 B) 20,10,0 C) 10,20,0 D) 0,10,20 Correct - Click anywhere to continue Incorrect - Click anywhere to continue Your answer: You did not answer this question completely You answered this correctly!
