Objectives Increase security and stimulate bicycle use in the city. Target groups are inhabitants of Ghent and their visitors History • Complaints – individual counseling • Cycle map
Door-to-door route planner along cycle networks (recommended by the mobility department) • User can calculate routes avoiding some resistance as cobblestones, tram tracks, cycle lanes in bad conditions or heavy traffic. • Area is Ghent and its surroundings • Attention to functional, but also recreational bicycle trips Content
Dataset: Multinet 2009 Extra data: directions for cyclists, ban cyclists, extra cycle connections as cycle bridges or underpasses, cobble stones, tram tracks, .. POI Cooperation with the Prov OVL and other departments of the City of Ghent maintaining GIS data. The routeplanner for cyclists is developed by ESRI belux and integrated in the GIS architecture of Digipolis. Development
