  2. Wireless • Wireless technology provides the medium through which dynamic exchange happens • Interconnectedness allows drivers to talk, interact, and businesses to work together

UPS vs. FedEx Why? • UPS Is known for their ground delivery • FedEx is known for their overnight deliveries • FedEx and UPS are now crossing into their competitors primary business • Both are trying to step up wireless developments • This will shave cost, increase reach, and give them the ability to do more with the same resources

  4. UPS General Info • Handle’s 13.6 million packages a day • 90,000 Wireless devices are in the field • 55,000 Wireless devices in their warehouses • 9,000 Wireless access points

UPS Wireless Adventures • Slow and Deliberate • Refresh their technology every 5 to 7 years • Rolls out the new system in stages that is synchronizes with the life span of the older system • Goal: use next generation wireless technologies to better manage the packages that flow through there facilities
