Who are its members? We will shortly ask each institution to confirm its list of DESC members and provide details on their level of involvement How should it operate? Please communicate with us with comments on the initial governance document, by the end of next week (6/21) The nascent Executive Board will review them We will involve the existing governance working group in the initial review Near-term work for everyone
How will we organize communication? Richard Dubois and gpdf will set up communication tools A wiki, with an initial structure reflecting the working groups Discussion forums paralleling that Expect these to be working early next week to support these startup efforts and our summer work, including the… Communication tools
What are the collaboration’s tasks? We ask everyone to identify a working group to which they want to contribute, and to Communicate with your selected working group convener with a short (few sentences, to start with) description of your interests and specific tasks you may join if you know that…… by the end of next week (6/21). Detailed proposals can come later (and may be linked to proposals you make to funding agencies) How will the summer’s work proceed? We will convene a meeting of the leadership team, Executive Board, and all the working group conveners the following week (6/25-29) We will put together an initial schedule Jeff Newman and Andy Connolly will organize the work going forward Completing the initial organization

How will we get the White Paper done by mid-August? Eight weeks to go First week: comments on the White Paper outline Use the communication forum we’ll establish We’ll work with the working group conveners to establish a schedule and writing assignments A version-controlled repository will be established for the text, and Forums will be set up for comment/discussion The white paper working group from February will be revived and assist with final editing (open to volunteers – N.B.: this can be a lot of work) White Paper
